Thrive Yoga for Kids was founded in 2016 by Leah Lailey and Acey Gaerth. Leah and Acey have been friends for over 20 years and share a passion for health, and believe that the Body, the Mind and the Soul work in unison to achieve overall happiness. To have complete health and to thrive in life, our body, mind and soul need to be equally nourished.
Leah and Acey are Mum’s to young children – Leah and husband Casey with Portia and Levi and Acey and husband Jason with Ava and Eli – and through watching their children grow and develop have realised that their kids experience stresses that effect them in the same way ‘life’ effects adults. As parents, we all naturally care for our children’s physical health through exercise, hydration and nourishing food but Leah and Acey have come to understand that for their children to be able to thrive in life, their mind and soul need to be cared for just as much.
Through their own journey, Leah and Acey acknowledge the benefits they feel and experience from yoga – physically and mindfully – would benefit their children. From that ‘Thrive Yoga for Kids’ was born.
In 2018, Leah and Acey completed their 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training with The Yoga Social. With this further accreditation, they are able to take their children’s classes to a new level as well as broadening their offerings to include Hatha Yoga for adults. From this, Thrive Yoga for Kids transformed into ‘Thrive Yoga’.
